Undergraduate student Kiyaan Aly, who participated in MSEN REU-Multifunctional Materials summer program, won 3rd place overall at the Texas A&M College of Engineering Summer Undergraduate Research Poster Session.
Congratulations, Kiyaan! Wishing you the best in your future endeavors!

Undergraduate researcher Sebastian Haney came from UC Berkeley to conduct research at Texas A&M University over the summer. Sebastian’s research found a correlation between water content and the type of anion on gelation of PVA in salt hydrate PCMs, with gelation mechanisms depending on the position of the anion in the Hofmeister series. In his time with the Sukhishvili group, Sebastian developed his skills in scientific presentation, infrared spectroscopy, rheology, data analysis, and literature search. His research was presented at the TAMU REU/USRG symposium on Aug. 4th, 2023.
Congratulations, Sebastian, for your hard work and success! We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors.

Undergraduate researcher Viktoria Theodorou came from the University of Cyprus to conduct research at Texas A&M University over the summer. She studied the mechanical properties of various layer-by-layer film systems. Her culmination of results was presented at a poster session and ceremony on July 27th, 2023.
Congratulations, Viktoria, for all of your hard work and successes! We enjoyed your company around the lab, and you will be missed!

Hanna Hlushko and Brent Vela represented the Aggie Research Program at the HIPs in the States 2020 conference. They presented their poster entitled “Team-Based Research on Layer-by-Layer Assembled Coatings of Antioxidant Polymer” to an audience of university educators and practitioners.
Victoria led two research teams that each presented a poster. Danielle Yarbrough and Samantha Hernandez presented a poster titled “Modulating Drug Delivery via Polymer Interaction Strength”, and Jeremy Zheng and Christian Frey presented “Antimicrobial Coatings”.
Raman’s research team presented “Antioxidant Hydrogen-Bonded Coatings of Linear Synthetic Polyphenols”.

Undergraduate students Samantha Hernandez, Jeremy Zheng, and Christian Frey presented their research at the Summer 2019 Undergraduate Research Poster Session on July 31, 2019.
Here’s what Samantha said about her experience:
“The Summer 2019 LAUNCH poster session allowed me to share my experience in Materials Science research with other undergraduate students, while learning about new advances being made in various other disciplines. Within the Sukhishvili group, I study stimuli-responsive micellar films under Victoria Albright’s mentorship; for this session, I focused on presenting information about the internal structure and stability of our micellar films. Presenting a poster encouraged me to analyze the data my team and I had collected which in turn helped me appreciate my peer’s posters and their efforts to give a concise and interactive presentation.”
